About Morgan

What is Morgan Hsu?

Morgan Hsu is a writer, dancer, oboist, neuroscientist (in the future), thinker, and advocate for matcha consumption. She is a Co-Head of Phillips Academy Andover’s Neuroscience Club, as well as Food Society.

Who is Morgan Hsu?

I am Morgan Hsu. I was born and raised in Hong Kong and attend a boarding school in the USA (Phillips Academy Andover). I started learning about neuroscience and psychology in middle school, and began writing comedy originals around the same time. When I was twelve, I performed my first comedy stand-up over Zoom (because of Covid-19) to my friends and family, and continued writing and performing my MOriginals (original comedy).

In my sophomore and junior years of high school, I applied (and got into) a research scholar program and looked into the connection between neuroscience and comedy. I planned on only doing a literature review for my research, but was lucky enough to interview two professional comedians at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. I learned a lot from my project and wanted to extend it.

My hope for Tickling Neurons is to show how impactful, complex, and helpful comedy can be. I chose the color yellow for my website because I write down my comedy ideas in my yellow notebook (I use my pink notebook for sad stuff). Yellow reminds me of the power of comedy and I love that I get to incorporate that here (thanks, Squarespace!)

How is Morgan Hsu?

She’s great.

Why is Morgan Hsu?

Morgan Hsu is the way she is because of her love for laughter, and because she is a middle child (which makes up half of her personality).
