Is the joke taking an indeliberate stab at someone?

Are the intentions behind the joke openly clear?

If the joke is attacking someone/someone’s identity, or even yourself, is it balanced by kindness? E.g. saying someone is short (insulting them) but that their confidence makes up for it (kindness)

Will the audience understand?

If you know your audience, how have they responded to these jokes in the past?

Why are you making this joke? Is it to connect people or to cause divide?

(Hint: if you are making the joke to cause divide, you probably should not do it.)
